There are so many misconceptions associated with Wool. Well the first one is that we all believe that wool comes only from sheep hair (which actually is protein fiber). In reality wool is a generic term and includes hair of many more animals such as cashmere goats, camel, Llama etc.
The other big myth around wool is that it is a warm fabric. Of course it is, especially the tweed version of it and that is why it finds application as building insulators in the cold countries.
However its special processing has made wool feel like a plain normal cloth & has enabled it to demonstrate excellent breathing & temperature regulating properties. Such wool is termed as tropical wool or light-weighted wool. More so, wool evaporates odor inducing moisture basically sweat, very swiftly. It wrinkles less and is easy to iron.
Commercially wool measure is presented in counts. This count (also known as the Bradford count) is the number of 560-yard (510 m) lengths (hanks) of worsted yarn that 1 pound (0.45 kg) of wool yields. So finer the wool, higher the count. Do check out our fabric range here...
Linen is a natural fabric which comes from the fibers of Flax plant. It is known to be the strongest natural fiber and has many properties that make it the fabric of choice for the men of taste.
It is highly durable and gains more strength when wet
Linen fibers are hollow. This feature allows the skin to breathe. Linen is known as natural wicking fiber since it is highly moisture absorbent.
It has the ability to prevent bacterial growth & protect skin from UV rays
Linen is natural anti-static and dust repellent fabric
Some believe linen is anti-stress & muscle relaxing resulting in better sleep. That’s why linen also sees its application in bed-sheets and blankets
Linen is easy to the skin, especially for those who have sensitive skin
Linen offers exceptional thermal properties thereby making it a favorite in the tropical climate
Linen has a natural luster which keeps increasing as the fabric is used & washed. This makes linen clothes appear always fresh and new.
The two most prominent physical traits of a linen fabric are that it wrinkles very easily and has slubs as part of the weave. Both of these traits are natural and are part of linen’s character. Due to these, linen may not ever become part of formal wear but it sits well above everything else in the fabric ladder and finds its place in the wardrobe of rich and luxury customers, those who want the best.
Linen’s quality is measured in “Lea” which basically is number of yards in a pound of linen divided by 300. Normally ready to wear brands offer linen garments which are in the range of 20-60 Lea, 60 would be very rare. Many brands mix cotton to linen. This helps them reduce the cost (Linen is far more expensive than cotton).
Our Linen range is from the European Flax & is used by many top fashion brands in the world.
